Health and Nutrition
To be a leader in the camping industry, having great staff and amazing activities is not enough. We understand the importance in ensuring that overall quality of the Trail’s End Experience extends to our dining room and health center.
Mealtimes are a great opportunity for us to take a break and spend time together as a camp family. Our beautifully air-conditioned dining room has round tables which provide a great atmosphere to eat, talk, sing when we crank up the dining room music and laugh with camp friends. Meals are served family style to the tables and we have substitute bars that provide a number of alternatives for even the pickiest of eaters.
Trail's End is 100% nut-free. We are very experienced in handling all types of food allergies including dairy, egg and gluten.
Over the past few years, we have seen a significant rise in the number of campers with allergies and other special food needs. Consequently, our talented food service staff, led by our food service director, Jerry Egan, work tirelessly to ensure our food service is able to meet the needs of every camper.

Every afternoon following Rest Hour, we have "Moo Call" when campers enjoy an afternoon snack. Additionally, campers receive a bedtime snack, which is delivered to their bunk each evening. Fresh fruit is available throughout the day for campers who need an extra pick-me-up.
Much like our food service, we recognize the importance of having the highest quality health center to meet the increased needs of our campers. Our newly constructed, state-of-the art air-conditioned health center includes exam rooms, private and semi-private overnight rooms with entertainment systems, kitchenette, lounge, overnight nurse’s quarters and doctor’s quarters. The health center is designed to provide our campers with the most comfortable of settings as they rest and recover from an illness.
Our health center team includes 6 nurses, an onsite, 24/7 doctor and health administrator. In the unlikely event a camper needs an x-ray or there is any other emergency, we are conveniently located 10 minutes from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Our director, Marc Honigfeld, serves on the foundation board at the hospital and as the hospital liaison for all camps in the Wayne County Camp Alliance.
